Flax Seed – One of the Oldest Crops

Flax seeds, also referred to as linseeds, are obtained from flax, one of the world’s oldest fibre crops. These little brown seeds, which were first grown in China and Egypt, have long been appreciated for their positive effects on health. Charlemagne, king of the Franks during the eighth century, is supposed to have had such a great faith in them that he insisted his devoted subjects consume flax seeds.

Flax seeds are a good source of dietary fiber, minerals, antioxidants, and healthy fat. According to an ongoing study, these seeds provide a wide range of health advantages and can lower the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Low in “bad” cholesterol, they aid in digestion, prevent constipation and help in suppressing hunger.

Dietary Information on Flaxseed:

Protein, dietary fibre, B vitamins, and minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, Phosphorus and potassium are all present in moderate amounts in flaxseeds. Additionally, flaxseeds are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids.

Health Benefits of Flax seeds:

Good for Digestion,

Both soluble and insoluble dietary fiber are abundant in flaxseeds. Insoluble fiber increases the volume of faces by absorbing a lot of water. Constipation is avoided and regular bowel motions are maintained. They are extremely helpful for those with irritable bowel syndrome.

Reduces Cardiovascular related diseases,

The Omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is abundant in flaxseeds, inhibits the build-up of cholesterol in the heart’s blood arteries. Additionally, it effectively lessens artery inflammation.

Reduces the risk of cancer,

flaxseeds are a rich source of proteins and Omega-3 fatty acids. The growth of tumors was discovered to be prevented by these proteins and Omega-3 fatty acids, further lowering the risk of cancer.

Best Immunity Booster,

Flaxseed proteins include amino acids such as arginine, aspartic acid, and glutamic acid. These amino acids have been shown to improve our overall immunity by shielding our body from a range of fungal infections.
